"The need for true innovation has never been more profound then now. We are capable of creating high-quality circular alternatives which are beneficial for humans and nature. If the future can be positive, why choose differently?"

Celebrating our Human Footprint

Monday, May 23, 2016 EPEA and Michael Braungart present the Cradle to Cradle® Design Concept at the prestigious 15th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia in Venice from May 28 to November 27, 2016. 87 architects and EPEA are invited to turn this year’s motto “Reporting from the Front” into inspiring installations. They share their story from the frontline to reveal that architecture can make a difference and is able to improve our quality of life.

Additionally, 62 countries introduce innovative projects and concepts in architecture and urbanism at this year's Biennale. Up to 500,000 visitors are expected during the six months long exhibition. EPEA is the only representative of the city of Hamburg and one of the few institutions, which represents Germany at the Biennale. Alejandro Aravena elucidates the motto: “Reporting from the front will be about sharing with a broader audience, the work of people that are scrutinizing the horizon looking for new fields of action, facing issues like segregation, inequalities, peripheries, natural disasters, waste, pollution and participation of communities”.

Sustainable Cleaning Products Summit, Paris

“With the cleaning products industry under pressure to become more sustainable, what practical steps can be taken? What developments are occurring in green surfactants and other ingredients? What can be done to reduce the packaging impact of finished products? How can the industry encourage responsible consumer behaviour? How can cleaning product companies and ingredient firms create positive impacts? Such questions will be addressed in this new edition.“

The Meetings on Architecture are back for the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. This programme of events on the themes and case studies presented at the Exhibition will take place throughout the whole period of Biennale Architettura 2016, involving the architects and participants of REPORTING FROM THE FRONT curated by Alejandro Aravena.
“If the ultimate goal of the Biennale is to share knowledge and exchange experiences – Aravena explains – we should offer a variety of channels for that to take place. Meeting the authors and listening to their experiences is still one of the most powerful ways to learn from others. Once a month, some of the participants will have a conversation and share with the public their insights, doubts, and the turning points in the projects that they are showing. We have organised them around themes, but architecture by nature always integrates more than one dimension. These Meetings will thus be a way to get from the authors themselves the richness and complexity of the built environment, and what it takes to get things done.”
